The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2024 on 10th March 2024 to fill the vacancies of Assistant Commandants (Executive) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The Examination will be held in New Delhi. The tentative number of vacancies to be filled based on the Examination will be 20 (General-16, SC-04, ST-00).

The Examination is restricted to only certain categories of departmental candidates of CISF. For details regarding eligibility conditions, the syllabus, and scheme of the examination, physical/ medical standards, etc., aspirants should consult the Rules of the Examination notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India dated 29.11.2023 which may be downloaded from the CISF website at address www.cisf.gov.in The Rules will also be available on UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Service Requirement: Candidates must have completed 4 years of regular service as on January 1, 2024, in the rank of Sub-Inspector (GD)/Inspector (GD) including the period of basic training.
• Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years as on August 1, 2024. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules.
• Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university.
• Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards.

Selection Process:

• Written Examination: Objective and descriptive type questions covering General Ability, Intelligence, Professional Skills, and Essay Writing.
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Includes running, long jump, high jump, and other physical tasks.
• Interview/Personality Test: Assessment of leadership qualities, communication skills, and overall suitability for the role.
• Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical check-up to ensure fitness for duty.

How to Apply:

Application Process:

• Apply online via www.upsc.gov.in. If not registered on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, register first, then fill out the application.
• The application form will be available from 29th November 2023 to 19th December 2023.

OTR Profile Modification:

• Changes in the OTR profile can be made only once, within 7 days after the application window closes. For first-time applicants, the last date for OTR modification is 26th December 2023.

Application Form Modification:

• Corrections to the application form are allowed from 20th December to 26th December 2023. OTR changes during this period must be made via the OTR platform.

Hard Copy Submission:

• Send a hard copy of the submitted application to CISF authorities at:
  Director General, Central Industrial Security Force, 13, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003, for verification and transmission to UPSC.

Scheme of Written Examination:

The written Examination to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission will comprise two papers as follows:

Paper I:

• General Ability & Intelligence and Professional Skill
• Total: 300 marks, 150 questions (2½ hours)
• Objective type (English and Hindi)
• Part A: General Ability & Intelligence (75 questions, 150 marks)
• Part B: Professional Skill (75 questions, 150 marks)

Paper II:

Essay, Precis Writing, and Comprehension

• 100 marks (2 hours)
• Essay can be written in English or Hindi; Precis and Comprehension must be in English.

Notes:

1. Medium of answers must follow the allowed language for each section.
2. Indicate the essay writing medium on the attendance list.
3. Minimum qualifying marks are required in each paper.
4. Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Examinations follow for qualified candidates.
5. Final merit list based on combined written exam and interview results.

Paper I:

• Part A: General Ability and Intelligence
  1. 1. General Mental Ability (logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude)
     2. General Science (scientific awareness, IT, biotechnology, environment)
     3. Current Events (national/international events in various fields)
     4. General Awareness (history, geography, polity, and economy)
• Part B: Professional Skill
  • • Focus on CISF-related skills like industrial security, fire fighting, aviation security, bomb disposal, law (Cr.PC, IPC), human rights, computer skills, and service rules (CISF Act, HR).

Paper II:

• Tests the ability to organize ideas, write essays, precis, and answer comprehension questions concisely and clearly.
