The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites applications for the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2024. This examination is conducted for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Officers’ Training Academy.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Nationality:

  • A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

2. Age Limits, Sex, and Marital Status:

  • Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 2001, and not later than January 1, 2006.
  • Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 2001, and not later than January 1, 2006.
  • Air Force Academy: 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2025 (born not earlier than January 2, 2001, and not later than January 1, 2005).
  • Officers’ Training Academy: (SSC Course for men) Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 2000, and not later than January 1, 2006.
  • Officers’ Training Academy: (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees who have not remarried and possess divorce documents.

3. Educational Qualifications:

  • Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
  • Air Force Academy: Degree from a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Application Process:

1. Registration:

  • Candidates must register themselves on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the UPSC website.

2. Application Form:

  • After successful registration, candidates can proceed to fill out the online application form for the examination.

3. Application Fee:

  • Candidates (except Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/-.

4. Submission:

  • The online applications can be submitted until January 9, 2024, 6:00 PM.

Selection Process:

1. Written Examination:

  • The written examination will be conducted on April 21, 2024. It will consist of objective-type questions in subjects like English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics.

2. Interview/Personality Test:

  • Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for an interview by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

3. Document Verification:

  • Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents will be taken up only after the candidate has qualified for the interview/personality test.

How to Apply:

  1. Online Application:
    Candidates must apply online through upsconline.nic.in. First-time applicants need to register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform. Once registered, the candidate can proceed to complete the application form.
  2. Modification in OTR Profile:
    Candidates can modify their OTR profile only once in a lifetime, within 7 days after the application window of their first final application closes. For this examination, the last date for OTR modification is 16.01.2024.
  3. Application Form Corrections:
    Corrections to the application form (excluding the OTR profile) are allowed between 10.01.2024 and 16.01.2024.
  4. No Application Withdrawal:
    Once submitted, applications cannot be withdrawn.
  5. Photo ID:
    Candidates must provide details of one government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter Card, PAN, etc.) and upload a scanned copy during the application. This ID will be used for future reference and must be carried out during the examination.
