UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites applications for the prestigious Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024. This examination is a gateway to a rewarding career dedicated to the conservation and management of India’s rich forest resources.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Nationality:
   • Must be a citizen of India, or
   • A subject of Nepal, or
   • A subject of Bhutan, or
   • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
   • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
2. Age Limit:
   • Minimum: 21 years
   • Maximum: 32 years as of 1st August 2024
   • Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules.
3. Educational Qualification:
   • A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the following subjects: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology, or
   • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering.

Examination Pattern:

1. Preliminary Examination:
   • Candidates must appear in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and qualify the same to proceed to the Main Examination.
2. Main Examination:
   • Written Examination
   • Interview/Personality Test

Application Process:

1. Online Application:
   • Candidates are required to apply online using the UPSC Online portal.
   • First-time applicants must register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform.
   • After registration, proceed to fill out the online application form for the examination.
2. Modification in OTR Profile:
   • Changes in the OTR profile are allowed only once in a lifetime after registration.
   • The modification window is open until 7 days after the closure of the application window.
3. Modification in Application Form:
   • Corrections in the application form are allowed from the next day after the closure of the application window for a period of 7 days.
