UPSC Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites applications for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2024. This examination is conducted for recruitment to Junior Time Scale of the Services as per the rules published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.

Overview:

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Nationality:

A candidate must be either:

• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal, or
• A subject of Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

2. Age Limit:

• Minimum: 21 years
• Maximum: 30 years (as of August 1, 2024)
• Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms.

3. Educational Qualifications:

• For IES: Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized University.
• For ISS: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University.

Examination Pattern:

1. Written Examination:

For IES:

• General English: 100 marks
• General Studies: 100 marks
• General Economics-I: 200 marks
• General Economics-II: 200 marks
• General Economics-III: 200 marks
• Indian Economics: 200 marks

For ISS:

• General English: 100 marks
• General Studies: 100 marks
• Statistics-I (Objective): 200 marks
• Statistics-II (Objective): 200 marks
• Statistics-III (Descriptive): 200 marks
• Statistics-IV (Descriptive): 200 marks

2. Viva Voce:

• 200 marks

Application Process:

1. Registration:
   • Candidates must register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform on the UPSC website.
2. Application Form:
   • Fill out the online application form available on the UPSC website.
   • Upload a scanned copy of a Photo ID Card (Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government).
3. Application Fee:
   • General/OBC: ₹200
   • SC/ST/PwBD/Female: Exempted
4. Submission:
   • Submit the application form before the deadline (April 30, 2024).
