The UPSC invites applications for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2024. This examination is conducted to recruit candidates for the following positions:
- Geologist, Group A
- Geophysicist, Group A
- Chemist, Group A
- Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology), Group A
- Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical), Group A
- Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics), Group A

Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
- For Geologist: Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a recognized university.
- For Geophysicist: M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognized university.
- For Chemist: M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a recognized university.
- For Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology): Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university.
- For Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical): M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a recognized university.
- For Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics): M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognized university.
Age Limit:
21-32 years as of January 1, 2024 (Relaxation as per government norms).

- Main Examination
- Personality Test/Interview
How to Apply:
- Apply online at www.upsconline.nic.in after completing One Time Registration (OTR), required only once in a lifetime. If already registered, proceed directly to fill out the application.
Modification in OTR Profile:
- Changes in OTR can be made only once, within 7 days after the closure of the first application window (deadline: 17.10.2023).
Modification in Application Form:
- Corrections to the application form are allowed from 11.10.2023 to 17.10.2023. Changes in OTR during this time must be made via the OTR platform.
Application Fees:
Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) (excepting Female/SC/ST/PwBD)
