UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites applications for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024. This prestigious examination is conducted annually to recruit candidates for various civil services positions in the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS).

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Nationality:
   • For IAS and IPS: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
   • For other services: Candidate must be either:
     • A citizen of India, or
     • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
     • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
     • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
2. Age Limit:
   • Minimum: 21 years
   • Maximum: 32 years (as of August 1, 2024)
   • Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules.
3. Educational Qualification:
   • A candidate must hold a degree from a recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification.

Application Process:

1. Online Registration:
   • Candidates must apply online through the UPSC website: upsconline.nic.in.
   • One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory before filling out the application form.
   • OTR can be done at any time throughout the year.
2. Application Fee:
   • General/OBC: ₹100
   • SC/ST/PH/Female: Exempted
3. Important Dates:
   • Start of Online Application: February 14, 2024
   • Last Date for Submission: March 5, 2024
   • Preliminary Examination Date: June 2, 2024

Selection Process:

1. Preliminary Examination:
   • Objective type (multiple choice questions)
   • Consists of two papers: General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)
   • Qualifying in nature
2. Main Examination:
   • Written examination
   • Consists of nine papers, including essay, general studies, and optional subjects
3. Interview/Personality Test:
   • Candidates who qualify for the Main Examination will be called for an interview.
