1. Tier I Examination

This is a computer-based test (CBT) that is common for all posts under SSC CGL.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

  • Verbal Reasoning: Analogy, Classification, Series, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Directions, Venn Diagrams, Puzzles, Missing Numbers.
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning: Mirror and Water Images, Paper Folding and Cutting, Embedded Figures, Patterns, Image-based Series.

  • Science: Basics of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (up to 10th standard).

Quantitative Aptitude

  • Arithmetic: Number System, Simplification, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Profit and Loss, Interest (Simple and Compound), Mensuration, Geometry.
  • Algebra: Basic Algebraic Identities, Linear Equations.
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric Ratios, Heights and Distances.
  • Data Interpretation: Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, Tables.

English Comprehension

  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, Homonyms, Spelling.
  • Grammar: Spotting Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Improvement.
  • Comprehension: Reading Comprehension, Passage-based Questions.
  • Verbal Ability: Sentence Arrangement, Para Jumbles.

2. Tier II Examination

The Tier II exam is also computer-based and includes different papers relevant to the Statistical Investigator Grade-II post.

Paper I: Quantitative Abilities (Common for all candidates)

  • Arithmetic: Same topics as in Tier I but at a more advanced level.
  • Advanced Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Statistics, Probability.

3. Tier III Examination

The Tier III examination is a descriptive paper in English or Hindi and is designed to test the candidate’s writing skills. It involves:

  • Application Writing

4. Tier IV Examination

The Tier IV exam is a skill test and/or document verification process.

  • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): This is conducted for candidates applying for the post of Tax Assistant. It involves a typing test with a specified speed requirement.
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): This test is conducted for certain posts and includes three modules: Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Slide Generation.

5. Document Verification
