Selection Process of SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination 2024
Selection Process of SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination 2024
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites applications for the positions of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’. This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to work in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India.
Mode of Selection:
19.1 The minimum qualifying marks for the Computer-Based Examination are as follows:
- UR: 30%
- OBC/EWS: 25%
- All Other Categories: 20%
19.2 Candidates must indicate their choice of posts (Stenographer Grade ‘C’, Stenographer Grade ‘D’, or both) in the online application form.
19.3 Based on the marks scored in the Computer-Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted by category to appear in the Skill Test(s) for the post(s) they have applied for.
19.4 The Skill Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature. The Commission will establish category-wise qualifying standards for each post. Candidates who qualify in the Skill Test will be considered for final selection based on their merit in the Computer-Based Examination.
19.5 Final selection and allocation to Ministries/Departments will be based on the candidate’s performance in the Computer-Based Examination and the preferences they expressed for posts/departments.
19.6 Once a candidate is allotted their first available preference based on merit, they will not be considered for any other option. Therefore, candidates must carefully choose their preferences for posts/departments. Once submitted, preferences will be treated as FINAL and IRREVERSIBLE. Requests for changes will not be entertained. If a candidate does not opt for a specific post/department, they will not be considered for that post, regardless of their merit position.
19.7 The Commission will make final allotments of posts based on merit-cum-preferences provided by candidates. Once a post is allotted, no changes will be made due to non-fulfillment of post-specific requirements such as physical, medical, or educational standards. For example, if a candidate is selected for a post they preferred but fails to meet its medical/physical/educational standards, their candidature will be rejected and they will not be considered for other preferences.
19.8 SC, ST, OBC, EWS, ESM, and PwBD candidates selected on their own merit without relaxed standards will not be counted against the reserved vacancies. These candidates will be adjusted against general/unreserved vacancies based on their merit position, or against vacancies earmarked for their category, whichever is more advantageous. Reserved vacancies will be filled separately from eligible SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD candidates.
19.9 SC, ST, OBC, EWS, ESM, and PwBD candidates who qualify using relaxed standards (such as age limit, experience, qualifications, extended zone of consideration, etc.) will be counted against reserved vacancies, regardless of their merit position. These candidates may be recommended for posts at relaxed standards to meet the reserved quota, regardless of their rank. For ex-servicemen, the deduction of military service from their age is permissible for both reserved and unreserved posts and will not be considered a relaxed standard. Similarly, for PwBD candidates, the relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit will not be deemed a relaxed standard.
19.10 A person with a benchmark disability who is selected on their own merit may be appointed against an unreserved vacancy, provided the post is suitable for their category of disability.
19.11 Success in the examination does not guarantee appointment. The government may conduct further inquiries to determine the candidate’s suitability for the post.
19.12 Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. Admission at all stages of the examination is provisional, and candidates found ineligible at any stage, before or after the written examination, will have their candidature canceled.
19.13 Candidates appointed through this examination will be on probation for two years and may be required to undergo training or pass examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. Upon successful completion of probation, candidates may be confirmed in their posts.
19.14 Selected candidates are subject to All India Service Liability (AISL) and may be required to serve anywhere in India.
19.15 Upon final selection, candidates may be assigned to a State/UT/Zone by the concerned User Organization/Office. They may be required to acquire proficiency in the local language of the allotted area to confirm their post.
19.16 If a candidate scores above the cut-off marks but is not qualified for the next stage or final selection, they must submit a representation to the concerned Regional Office of the Commission within two months of the result or two weeks prior to the next stage of the examination, whichever is earlier.
19.17 If a candidate is selected but does not receive any correspondence from the Commission or the concerned User Organization/Office within one year of the final result, they must contact the User Department/Organization immediately.
19.18 The Commission will declare the final result only once. No further nominations will be made to fill vacancies left due to non-availability of suitable candidates, rejection during Document Verification, or non-joining of candidates. In such cases, the Ministry/Department/Organization may take further action regarding carrying forward vacancies according to the relevant rules.
19.19 There will be no Waiting List/Reserve List after the final result is declared.
