Western Railway invites applications from eligible candidates for the engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This is a golden opportunity for young individuals to gain hands-on experience and training in various trades within the railway sector.

Eligibility Criteria:

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 15 to 24 years of age as of the closing date of the application.

Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Must possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or a Provisional Certificate issued by the National Council for Vocational Training/State Council for Vocational Training.

Mode of Selection:

1. Eligibility: Selection based on merit for training under the Apprentice Act of 1961.

2. Criteria: Merit list calculated using average marks from Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI exams, with equal weightage.

3. Tie-Breaker:

  • Older applicants are preferred in case of the same marks.
  • If birth dates are identical, earlier Matriculation passers are considered first.

4. Testing: No written test or viva.

5. Documentation: Applicants must upload all certificates and documents online; no postal submissions are required.

Training Period & Stipend:

1. Training Period: Selected applicants must complete a one-year apprenticeship training program.

2. Stipend: During the training, candidates will receive a stipend at the rate prescribed by the relevant State Government rules.

Selection Process:

  • Merit List: Selection will be based on a merit list prepared by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained by the candidates in both Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and the ITI examination.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification to the extent of 1.5 times the notified vacancies.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates must pass the prescribed medical examination.

Training Details:

  • Duration: One year
  • Stipend: As per the rules of the Western Railway.
