Vacancy & Pay Scale:
Applications are invited for a total of 32,438 (provisional and subject to change) vacant posts.
- Pay Scale: ₹18,000/- (Initial Pay as per Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix)
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Nationality/Citizenship:
A candidate must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, intending to permanently settle in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam intending to settle in India permanently, provided the candidate has a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
2. Age Limit (as on January 1, 2025):
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 36 years (including a one-time relaxation of 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Age Relaxation:
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years (additional relaxation for OBC and SC/ST candidates).
- Ex-Servicemen: Total years of service rendered in the military plus 3 years (subject to maximum limits).
3. Educational Qualification (as on February 22, 2025):
- Mandatory Qualification:
- Passed Class 10th (Matriculation) or its equivalent from a recognized board or institution.
- Technical Posts:
- ITI certificate or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT/SCVT is required for specific posts.
- Special Categories:
- Canteen Staff: Minimum qualification relaxed to Class VII pass (as per Supreme Court order).
Important:
- Candidates awaiting results of the prescribed qualifications as of February 22, 2025, are not eligible.
- Diploma/Degree holders cannot substitute their qualifications unless explicitly specified.
4. Medical Fitness:
Candidates must meet the medical standards prescribed for the respective posts:
- Vision: Standards vary by post (e.g., A-2, A-3, B-1, C-1, etc.), including distance and near vision requirements.
- General Fitness: Must pass tests for color vision, night vision, binocular vision, and more.
- Specific details are provided in Annexure A and Chapter 5 of the Indian Railway Medical Manual Vol.-I.
Selection Process:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT):
- Single-stage CBT with negative marking (1/3 mark deduction for incorrect answers).
- Marks will be normalized for multi-session exams.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Shortlisted candidates (3x the number of vacancies) will undergo PET based on CBT performance.
- Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination:
- Candidates who qualify PET will proceed to DV and medical fitness tests.
- Final Merit List:
- Based on performance in CBT, qualification in PET, and eligibility criteria.
Application Fee:
- ₹500 for General candidates (₹400 refundable after CBT attendance).
- ₹250 for PwBD, Female, Transgender, SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen, and Economically Backward Classes (₹250 refundable after CBT attendance).
How to Apply:
Step 1: Registration

- Click on the link for RRB Group D Recruitment 2024 (CEN 08/2024).
- Create a new account by entering basic details such as:
- Name (as per Matriculation/10th certificate)
- Date of Birth
- Mobile Number
- Valid Email ID
- Generate a login ID and password.
Step 2: Filling the Application Form
- Log in with your credentials.
- Fill out the application form with accurate details:
- Personal information
- Educational qualifications
- Post preferences
- Railway zone preference
- Verify all details carefully before submission.
Step 3: Upload Documents Upload scanned copies of the following documents:
- Recent passport-sized photograph (as per the prescribed format)
- Signature (in running handwriting, not in block letters)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Disability certificate (for PwBD candidates)
- Any other required documents as mentioned in the notification.
Step 4: Application Fee Payment
- General/OBC candidates: ₹500 (₹400 refundable after attending CBT).
- SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Transgender/Economically Backward Classes: ₹250 (fully refundable after attending CBT).
- Pay the fee online via:
- Debit/Credit cards
- Net banking
- UPI
Step 5: Final Submission
- Review the entire application.
- Submit the form.
