Punjab & Haryana High Court Translator Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the translator, candidates must possess the following: 

1. Educational Qualification

• For Direct Recruitment (General & SC/ST/BC Candidates):

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks.

• For Departmental Candidates:

  • Graduate from a recognized university.
  • Must have completed 5 years of service in Punjab & Haryana High Court.

• Additional Qualifications (Weightage Marks Provided):

  • Law Degree (LL.B.) from a Bar Council of India-approved university.
  • Diploma (minimum 1 year) in Translation (English to Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu & vice versa).
  • Certificate Course (minimum 6 months) in Translation from a recognized institute.
  • Minimum 2 years of translation experience in government offices, Parliament, PSUs, or high courts.

• Computer Proficiency:

  • Must be skilled in MS Word, Spreadsheets, and other office packages.

2. Age Limit (as of 21st March 2025)

The selection process for translators consists of three stages:

1. Written Examination (150 Marks)

2. Weightage Marks (Maximum 30 Marks)

3. Typing Test & Computer Proficiency Test

• Typing Speed Requirement:

  • English: 30 words per minute (w.p.m.)
  • Hindi/Punjabi: 20 w.p.m.
