NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination 2025

The National Testing Agency (NTA) invites applications for the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) 2025. This is a national-level entrance examination for admission into DBT-supported Postgraduate Programs in Biotechnology and Allied Areas at Participating Institutions/Universities in India.

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Stipend Details:

Candidates who qualify for GAT-B 2025 and secure admission in DBT-supported programs are eligible for monthly stipends, as detailed below:

  • M.Sc. Biotechnology & Allied Areas: Rs. 5,000/- per month
  • M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology: Rs. 7,500/- per month
  • M.Tech./M.V.Sc. Programs: Rs. 12,000/- per month

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Programs Covered:

Selected candidates will be eligible for admission to the following DBT-supported postgraduate programs:

  • M.Sc. Biotechnology and Allied Areas
  • M.Tech. Biotechnology and Allied Areas
  • M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology
  • M.V.Sc. Animal Biotechnology

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria of participating institutions/universities.
  • Candidates appearing for the final examination of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply under the “Result Awaited” category.
  • Each participating institution/university has specific eligibility requirements. Candidates should verify their eligibility with the respective institutions before applying.

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Examination Details:

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Pattern: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Medium of Exam: English
  • Total Marks: 240

Exam Structure:

Marking Scheme:

  • Section A: +1 mark for each correct answer, -0.5 for each incorrect answer.
  • Section B: +3 marks for each correct answer, -1 for each incorrect answer.
  • Unattempted questions carry zero marks.

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Application Fee:

  • General (UR)/OBC-NCL/EWS: ₹1,300
  • SC/ST/PwD: ₹650

NTA GAT-B Entrance Examination Application Process:

Candidates can apply online at NTA GAT-B 2025 website by following these steps:

  1. Registration–Create an account using an email ID and mobile number.
  2. Fill the Application Form–Enter personal details, educational qualifications, and preferred exam cities.
  3. Upload Documents–Required documents include:
    • Recent passport-size photograph (10KB-200KB)
    • Signature (4KB-30KB)
    • PwD certificate (if applicable) (50KB-300KB)
    • Category certificate (if applicable) (50KB-300KB)
    • Class X certificate (as proof of date of birth) (50KB-300KB)
    • Certificate for appearing/result awaited candidates (50KB-300KB)
  4. Fee Payment–Pay the examination fee online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or Wallet.
  5. Confirmation Page–Download and keep a copy for future reference.

Each institution will conduct its own admission process based on GAT-B 2025 scores.
