Exam Pattern of SSC CHSLE 2024
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSLE) 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who have completed their 12th standard and are looking for stable government jobs.
Scheme of Examination:
The Computer-Based Examination consists of two tiers, with normalized scores determining final merit and cut-off marks. Answer keys will be published online, and candidates can submit representations within the specified time frame.
13.1 The Computer-Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers:
- Tier-I
- Tier-II
13.2 Normalization of Scores:
Marks obtained by candidates in Computer-Based Examinations conducted in multiple shifts will be normalized as per the formula published by the Commission (Notice No: 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019). These normalized scores will determine the final merit and cut-off marks.
13.3 Answer Keys and Representations:
After the Computer-Based Examination, tentative answer keys will be posted on the Commission’s website. Candidates may review the answer keys and submit representations online within the time limit specified by the Commission, along with a non-refundable fee of ₹100 per question. Only representations submitted through the online process will be considered, and the Commission’s decision on the final answer keys will be final.
13.4 Schedule of Examinations:
The examination schedule mentioned in the notice is tentative. Any changes will be communicated to candidates only through the Commission’s website.
13.5 Metric System:
Wherever applicable, the Metric system of weights and measures will be used in the question papers.
13.6 Re-Evaluation:
There will be no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of the scores at any stage or tier of the examination. Correspondence regarding this matter will not be entertained.
13.7 Discrepancies in Questions:
In case of any discrepancies in questions between the English and the opted language versions, the English version will prevail.
13.8 Scheme of Tier-I Examination:
Tier-I will include the following sections:

- The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. The questions for Part-II, III, and IV will be set in English, Hindi, and the language opted by the candidate in the application form (refer to Annexure-XVI).
- A negative marking of 0.50 marks will be applied for each wrong answer.
13.9 Scheme of Tier-II Examination:
Tier-II Examination will consist of the following sections:

- Tier-II will be conducted in two sessions on the same day.
- Candidates must qualify for all sections of Tier-II.
- Negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer will apply in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III.
- Module-I of Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test) is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
- Skill Test/Typing Test is qualifying and will be conducted as per the guidelines on the Commission’s website.
13.9.7 Skill Test for Data Entry Operators (DEO):
- Skill Test is mandatory for all DEO posts. The speed of 15,000 Key Depressions per hour for specific departments and 8,000 Key Depressions per hour for other departments will be assessed through a 15-minute test.
- VH candidates opting for a scribe will receive compensatory time and may use Passage Dictators during the Typing Test.
For other posts (LDC/JSA), candidates must achieve a typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi. The test will be for 10 minutes, with compensatory time provided for eligible candidates.
Candidates with disabilities permanently unfit for the Typing Test may apply for an exemption with a valid medical certificate.
