Exam Pattern for SSC CGL 2024

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination (Advertisement No.: HQ-C11018/1/2024-C-1) in four tiers. Each tier has a distinct pattern and serves a specific purpose in the selection process. Below is the detailed exam pattern for each tier:

Tier 1:

  • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer

2. Paper II: English Language & Comprehension

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Number of Questions: 200
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer

3. Paper III: Statistics (for Junior Statistical Officer)

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer

4. Paper IV: General Studies (Finance and Economics) (for Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer)

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Letter/Application Writing
  • Precis Writing

Language: English or Hindi

Tier 4:

Mode: Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)/Document Verification

Tests:

1. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST):

  • Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English.
  • Applicable for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax).

2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):

  • Proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Generation of Slides.
  • Applicable for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA, and AFHQ.

3. Document Verification:

  • Verification of all the required documents and certificates.

Important Notes:

  • Tier 1 and Tier 2: Both are objective-type exams conducted online.
  • Tier 3: Descriptive paper conducted offline.
  • Tier 4: Skill test/document verification as applicable.
  • Normalization: Marks scored by candidates in Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be normalized as per SSC guidelines.
