Eligibility Criteria for Tamilnadu PWD Apprentice Recruitment 2024

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Tamil Nadu invites applications for Graduate Apprentices, Technician (Diploma) Apprentices, and Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act, 1973. The duration of the apprenticeship is one year.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Educational Qualifications

Category I: Graduate Apprentices (Engineering/Technology)

• A Degree in Engineering/Technology (Full-time) in the relevant discipline from:
  • A statutory university.
  • An institution empowered to grant such a degree by an Act of Parliament.
  • A professional body recognized by the state or central government.

Category II: Technician (Diploma) Apprentices (Engineering/Technology)

• A Diploma in Engineering/Technology (Full-time) in the relevant discipline from:
  • A state council or board of technical education.
  • A university.
  • An institution recognized by the state or central government.

Category III: Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices

• A Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce/Humanities (Full-time) such as:
  • BA/B.Sc./B.Com./BBA/BCA/BBM from a statutory or deemed university, approved by UGC.

Note: Qualifications must have been completed in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024.

2. Age Limit

• Age limit will be as per Apprenticeship Rules.

3. Reservation

• Reservation guidelines under the Apprentices Act will be followed for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories.
• Candidates claiming reservation must provide valid certificates in the government-prescribed format.

4. Physical Standards

• Minimum physical fitness standards as prescribed under Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

5. Stipend

• Graduate Apprentices: ₹9,000 per month.
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹8,000 per month.
• Non-Engineering Graduates: ₹9,000 per month.

6. Experience Restrictions

• Candidates who:
  • Have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, or
  • Have one year or more work experience,
    are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
