Eligibility Criteria for SSC MTS (Non-Technical) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination 2024

The Staff Selection Commission will hold a competitive examination for recruitment of Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (in Pay Level-1 as per Pay Matrix of 7th Pay Commission), a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, NonMinisterial post in various Ministries/Departments/Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/Statutory Bodies/Tribunals, etc., in different States/Union Territories and Havaldar (in Pay Level-1 as per Pay Matrix of 7th Pay Commission), a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) under Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

Eligibility Criteria

Here’s a detailed look at the eligibility criteria you need to meet:

1. Educational Qualification:

  • MTS and Havaldar: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Pass) or equivalent from a recognized board. Ensure that your educational qualifications are from a recognized institution to avoid any discrepancies during the verification process.

2. Age Limit:

MTS:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 25 years

Havaldar:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 27 years

Note: Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms for different categories:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.

3. Nationality/Citizenship:

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

4. Physical Standards (for Havaldar posts):

Candidates applying for the Havaldar position must meet the following physical standards:

Height:

  • Male: 157.5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes)
  • Female: 152 cm (relaxable by 2.5 cm in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes)

Chest (for Male candidates only):

  • Unexpanded: 76 cm
  • Expanded: Minimum expansion of 5 cm

Weight:

  • Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

5. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (for Havaldar posts):

Candidates must qualify for the PET as per the following criteria:

Male:

  • Walking: 1600 meters in 15 minutes
  • Cycling: 8 km in 30 minutes

Female:

  • Walking: 1 km in 20 minutes
  • Cycling: 3 km in 25 minutes
