Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL 2024
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the eligibility criteria for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2024(Advertisement No.: HQ-C11018/1/2024-C-1). Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the examination:
1. Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution.
Specific Requirements for Certain Posts:
- Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:

- Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

- Junior Statistical Officer:

- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

- Statistical Investigator Grade-II:

- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

- All Other Posts:

- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

2. Age Limit:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 32 years (varies by post)
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwD: 10 years
- PwD (OBC): 13 years
- PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.
- Other categories: As per government rules.
3. Nationality/Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
4. Physical Standards:
For certain posts like Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI, etc.:
- Height: Minimum 157.5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes).
- Chest: 81 cm (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm).
- Vision: Eye-sight (with or without glasses) Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye. Near vision: 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other eye.
5. Other Requirements:
- Character Certificate: Candidates must produce a character certificate from the head of the institution last attended or from a gazetted officer.
- Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit as per the standards set by the SSC.
