The Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Mumbai, invites applications from Indian Nationals for the recruitment of Seaman and Greaser positions in the Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) cadre. Below are the detailed eligibility requirements:

1. Post: Seaman

• Pay Scale: Level 1 in the pay matrix (₹18,000 – ₹56,900) + Grade Pay ₹1,800.
• Vacancies: 33 (Category-wise: SC-6, ST-1, OBC-8, EWS-5, UR-13).

Eligibility Criteria:

• Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 18 years.
  • Maximum: 25 years (Relaxations applicable as per government norms).
  • Age as of 17.12.2024 will be considered.
• Educational Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    1. Passed Xth Class or equivalent.
    2. Three years of experience on sea-going mechanized vessels, including two years in helmsman and seamanship work.
  • Desirable: Certificate of Competency as “Mate of Fishing Vessel” issued by the Marine Mercantile Department.

Job Description:

• Assist in vessel maintenance, including anchor handling, cleaning, and helmsman duties.
• Conduct regular maintenance, scrubbing, and painting of the hull.
• Perform watchkeeping, security, and bilge cleaning.

2. Post: Greaser

• Pay Scale: Level 1 in the pay matrix (₹18,000 – ₹56,900) + Grade Pay ₹1,800.
• Vacancies: 11 (Category-wise: SC-2, ST-1, OBC-3, EWS-1, UR-4).

Eligibility Criteria:

• Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 18 years.
  • Maximum: 25 years (Relaxations applicable as per government norms).
  • Age as of 17.12.2024 will be considered.
• Educational Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    1. Passed Xth Class or equivalent.
    2. Three years of experience on sea-going mechanized vessels, particularly in maintaining main and auxiliary machinery.
  • Desirable: Certificate of Competency as “Engine Driver of Fishing Vessel” issued by the Marine Mercantile Department.

Job Description:

• Assist in machinery maintenance and repair.
• Maintain the craft’s main and auxiliary machinery.
• Perform watchkeeping duties and assist in spare/tool upkeep.

Age Relaxation (Applicable as per Government Orders):

• SC/ST: +5 years.
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): +3 years.
• Central Government Employees:
  • Up to 40 years for General candidates.
  • Up to 45 years for SC/ST candidates (with at least 3 years of continuous service).
• Ex-Servicemen:
  • Additional 3 years beyond the upper age limit after deducting military service rendered.

Other Important Information:

Candidates must ensure the experience certificate includes dates, job details, registered vessel name, registration number, and payroll records.
